All Scrub-jay habitat areas depicted on this map are for informational purposes only.  Scrub-jay habitat areas, or areas where the birds are most likely to occur, are shown in red.  A 1320 foot buffer around these areas, where the birds may also occur, are shown in yellow.

In the unincorporated area of the County, lots within 850 feet of a scrub-jay documented in the 2000 and 2004 surveys are generally referred to the US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) for consultation.  Additional lots may be referred to the FWS based on site specific information.  Determinations concerning sites in or near defined habitat must be made on a case by case basis by a competent environmental professional.  Please note that per the FWS, there are no unbuildable lots within Sarasota County.

In the City of North Port, please visit www.cityofnorthport.com/scrub_jay/default.asp and refer to the "Updated Scrub Jay Excel Spread Sheet" to see which lots will be referred to the FWS for consultation.
